　　過去式：practiced

　　用作名詞 (n.) 時的用法：

　　一.in practice

　　1.在實踐中,實際上 in fact

　　It sounded like a good idea, but in practice it didn't work.

　　這聽起來像是個好主意,但做起來卻行不通。

　　What it means in practice is that he does twice the work for half the money.

　　這實際上意味著他做兩倍工作卻只拿一半報酬。

　　2.在不斷練習中; 熟練的 having spent time doing practice

　　She can speak English fluently as she is always in practice.

　　她一直在練習,所以英語講得很流利。

　　3.在開業中 running business

　　He is a physician in practice.

　　他是執業醫生。

　　Taylor was in practice with two colleagues.

　　二.out of practice

　　疏于練習 not having spent time doing practice

　　She was out of practice at singing.

　　她對歌唱荒疏了。

　　I haven't played tennis for years, so I'm really out of practice.

　　我已經多年不打網球,技術已經完全生疏了。

　　三.put〔carry〕 into practice

　　實施,實行 actually do sth (that was previously only planned〔thought about〕)

　　put〔carry〕 sth into practice

　　We have discussed the plan continually for several weeks; now the time has come to put it into practice.我們已連續好幾個星期討論這計劃了,現在到了付諸實施的時候了。

　　用作動詞時的用法：

　　一、及物動詞 vt.

　　1. 實踐,實行

　　What I preach, I am resolved to practice.

　　我所講的道理,我必定身體力行。

　　2. 練習,實習;訓練

　　The young girl practices the violin every day.

　　這小女孩每天練習拉小提琴。

　　3. 經常做

　　We should practice economy even if we are rich.

　　既使我們富裕了也仍應該勵行節約。

　　4. 開業從事

　　He has practiced law in Taipei for 30 years.

　　他在臺北做律師已有三十年。

　　二、不及物動詞 vi.

　　1. 實踐,實行 2. 練習,實習

　　I don't think you practice enough.

　　我認為你練習不夠。

　　3. (醫生,律師等)開業[(+as)]

　　He practices as a lawyer in Hong Kong.

　　他在香港當律師。
