關(guān)于端午節(jié)的“前世今生”眾說紛紜，其中，最為大家所熟悉的是紀(jì)念愛國詩人屈原 (In order to commemorate patriotic Poet Qu Yuan who jumped into Miluo River.The local people living adjacent to the Miluo River rushed into their boats to search.)。人們非常欣賞這位愛國詩人的高尚情操和出眾才華，更對他投江自盡的結(jié)局深表同情。
雖然也可以將端午節(jié)稱之為Duanwu Festival，但如果對外國人說端午節(jié)盡可能不要說The Duanwu Festival，因為大多數(shù)外國人不明為何物，而The Dragon Boat許多人卻很熟悉。
1.吃粽子

Glutinous rice filled with meat, nuts or bean paste and wrapped in bamboo leaves. It is associated with Dragon Boat Festival with historical meaning. The custom of eating zongzi is now popular in North and South Korea, Japan and Southeast Asian nations.
糯米一般先用肉、堅果或者豆沙餡填充起來，然后再用竹葉包裹起來。這是和端午節(jié)的歷史意義緊密結(jié)合在一起的。吃粽子的習(xí)俗，現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)在朝鮮、韓國、日本和東南亞國家流行開來。
南方一般用竹葉包粽子，北方一般用蘆葦葉包粽子。粽子常以紅棗Chinese red date作餡。人們也會把糯米(sticky / glutinous rice)浸在堿水(alkaline water)里，這樣粽子質(zhì)地就會更柔軟。但是一些南方地區(qū)包粽子基本上不用紅棗，而用肉或豆沙。我國最著名的粽子還屬嘉興粽子，嘉興的粽子填料用的是雞肉和“八寶”，也有包紅豆沙和咸蛋黃的。

They first sew little bags with colorful silk cloth, then fill the bags with perfumes or herbal medicines, and finally string them with silk threads. The perfume pouch will be hung around the neck or tied to the front of a garment as an ornament. They are said to be able to ward off evil.People worship five colors in ancient China. On that day, the first issue after getting up for adults is to tie colored lines around the child’s wrists, ankles and neck.在端午節(jié)，父母會給孩子們戴上香包。他們首先用彩色的綢布縫制成小包，然后在小包里裝上香料和草藥，最后用絲線將小包縫上。香包被掛在孩子的脖子上或系在衣服的前面作為裝飾。傳說香包也可以驅(qū)魔辟邪。中國古代崇拜五色，以五色為吉祥色。因此，在端午節(jié)清晨，各家大人起床后第一件大事便是在孩子手腕、腳腕、脖子上拴五色線。
"碧艾香蒲處處忙。誰家兒共女，慶端陽。細(xì)纏五色臂絲長。"
五色線不可任意折斷或丟棄，只能在夏季第一場大雨或第一次洗澡時，拋到河里。據(jù)說，戴五色線的兒童可以避開蛇蝎類毒蟲的傷害;扔到河里，意味著讓河水將瘟疫、疾病沖走，兒童由此可以保安康。
賽龍舟

Dragon boat racing is an indispensable part of the festival, held all over thecountry.As the gun is fired, people will see racers in dragon-shaped canoes pulling the oars harmoniously and hurriedly, accompanied by rapid drums, speeding toward their destination.
賽龍舟是端午節(jié)重要的組成部分，在全國上下都會進(jìn)行。槍聲一響，人們就會看到龍舟上的運動員，伴隨著快速的鼓點，迅速又整齊劃一地劃動船槳，沖向終點。
相傳古時楚國人因舍不得賢臣屈原投江死去，劃船追趕拯救。他們爭先恐后，追至洞庭湖時不見蹤跡。之后每年五月五日劃龍舟以紀(jì)念之。借劃龍舟驅(qū)散江中之魚，以免魚吃掉屈原的身體。競渡之習(xí)，盛行于吳、越、楚。

雄黃本屬礦物，含有三硫化砷成分，與酒混合，即成雄黃酒(realgar wine或xionghuangjiu)，用以驅(qū)蟲解五毒。小兒涂于頭、額、耳、鼻、手、足心，并灑墻壁間，以法諸毒。民間俗語有"飲了雄黃酒，百病都遠(yuǎn)走"。
