　　Imposing sentences haslong been considered as a method to punish people who commit a crime andsometimes as a correctional method. While the discussion of choice between death penalty and prison is still a controversial issue over the public. In my opinion, I firmly believe that death penalty is more effective and direct to force people to raise awareness of laws.

　　It is common knowledge that supporting stiff sentenceshas a deterrent effect on both potential offenders and habitual offenders. Although most peoplethink people should have a full consideration for the severity of crime, purpose of committing and even age of the offenders. However, there is a fact which should be worth recognizing, many offenders committhe crime mainly due tothe lack of the hope forlife and future, so going into the prison may bring a significant change evenimprovement for their living actuality. Therefore, prison has little deterrent effecton them at all even becoming a method to help them escape from suffering life and stay alive. In addition, stiff sentences decrease the fault tolerance of offenses to zero,so in comparison with prison, death penalty could be more useful andeffective to protect the social order.

　　Meanwhile, some people argue that different sentences must depend on different purposes of offenders, for instance, some homicides do not want to kill anybody indeed, but killing somebody by mistakes or through negligence finally. Death penalty may be crueland against to humanity as a method to punish them. However, if all of people think like this, nobody will respond to bereaved. Especially in China, there isthe truth universally happened over the few past years, which no bereaved iswilling to receive compensation from the offenders despite the huge amount of compensations. Committing the offenders to prison is not enough at all. So, death penalty sometimesis a psychological comfort for bereaved.

　　Overall, no one hopes that enforcing the laws and protecting the social order need the deterrent impact of death penalty, but so far, I think death penalty should be the most efficient method to punish the people who have committed the blunders.
