　　表示許多的英文短語(yǔ)：表示許多、大量含義的英語(yǔ)詞組及用法

　　一、修飾可數(shù)名詞：

　　eg:There are many people in the park.

　　I have a great many things to do.

　　She bought scores/ dozens of eggs yesterday morning. 2)Many a/an,也表“很/許多的+可名單，謂動(dòng)用單數(shù)。

　　Many a young man wants to speak English. 記憶技巧：修飾可數(shù)名詞你會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)構(gòu)成短語(yǔ)的主要名詞many，number，score，dozen本身都是可數(shù)的!!

　　二、修飾不可數(shù)名詞：

　　e.g.There is a great deal of snow on the ground. A million dollars is a large amount of money to me. 記憶技巧：much，本身不可數(shù);deal，amount都是"量”，沒法量。所以加不可數(shù)

　　三、修飾可/不可數(shù)名詞均可：

　　1)a lot of，lots of，plenty of，a great/large/quantity of，

　　e.g. A lot of/Lots of people(可數(shù))went swimming yesterday.

　　A lot of/Lots of work(不可數(shù)) is to be done this week.

　　We have plenty of cakes(可數(shù)). Take some more.

　　Don't hurry.There is plenty of time(不可數(shù)).

　　2)特別說明a lot.

　　用作名詞，表示“很多，多數(shù)”。 He knew a lot about it.

　　用作副詞，修飾形容詞和動(dòng)詞，表示“非常，相當(dāng)”。

　　He is feeling a lot better today.他今天感覺好多了。

　　She laughed a lot.她笑得很厲害。

　　3)注意a quantity of的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞。后邊加+不可數(shù)名詞時(shí),謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用單數(shù);后邊加+可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù)，謂動(dòng)動(dòng)詞復(fù)數(shù)。

　　A small quantity of water(不可數(shù)名詞) is needed.Water是不可數(shù)名詞，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞(Be動(dòng)詞用單數(shù)) There are a large quantity of flowers(可數(shù)名詞) in the garden.Flowers是復(fù)數(shù)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞be動(dòng)詞用復(fù)數(shù)形式。

　　4)great/large quantities of，不管后邊加不可數(shù)名詞還是可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù)，謂動(dòng)都用復(fù)數(shù)形式。

　　在英文中，將這些表示“許多，很多”的詞組按其用法歸類：

　　一、只能修飾名詞復(fù)數(shù)形式 many、 a great/good many 、a great/large number of 、scores of、dozens of和quite a few ,這類“許多”修飾作主語(yǔ)的名詞時(shí)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用復(fù)數(shù)

　　eg I‘m quite busy; I have many things to do There are a great/good many English books in our school library.

　　A great number of my friends have been to the Great Wall.

　　Scores/Dozens of people were killed in the accident.(許多人在這次事故中喪生)

　　I have made quit a few good friends,too.

　　溫馨提示：

　　1)many 作代詞，表示“許多人，許多”的意思 eg Many of them have watched the TV play.

　　2) a great/good many 做代詞，表示“許多人(東西)” eg A great many of us like American English better than British English.(我們中的許多人喜歡美語(yǔ)勝過英國(guó)英語(yǔ))

　　3)the number of + n (可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù))表示"....的數(shù)目”,用它做主語(yǔ)時(shí)，謂語(yǔ)用單數(shù)

　　eg The number of the students in our class is 55.

　　二、只能修飾不可數(shù)名詞的“許多” much、 a great / good deal of 和a large amount of ，這類“許多”修飾主語(yǔ)名詞時(shí)候，謂語(yǔ)用單數(shù)

　　eg I don't know they gave us much help.

　　There is a great/good deal of snow on the ground.(地上有許多雪) I spend a large amount of money on books every month.(我每月要花很多錢買書)

　　溫馨提示：

　　1)much 單用，做名詞表示“許多，大量” eg Much has been said about it .(關(guān)于這種事已經(jīng)說的很多了)

　　2)a great deal 做名詞詞組和副詞詞組，也表示“大量，許多”/ 還可以修飾比較級(jí)，表示程度。

　　eg At the end of the year there was a great deal to do .(年底有很多事情做)

　　eg They talked a great deal about the problem.(他們對(duì)這個(gè)問題談?wù)摿嗽S多) eg He is a great deal better today (他今天好多了)(修飾比較級(jí)，表示程度)

　　三、既可以修飾可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù)，又可以修飾不可數(shù)名詞 a lot of 、lots of 、plenty of 、supplies of ，

　　a great/quantity of 、great/large quantities of

　　1)a lot 名詞詞組表示“大量，很多”/做副詞詞組表示“很多，非常，相當(dāng)”/做程度狀語(yǔ)修飾比較急 eg I have a lot to do today. (很多事 名詞)

　　eg he helped me a lot (副詞 很多)

　　eg I like this picture quite a lot (副詞 非常)

　　2)large quantities of + 不可數(shù)名詞/可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù) ，謂語(yǔ)用復(fù)數(shù)

　　eg Large quantities of water are needed every day. (修飾不可數(shù)n) There are quantities of flowers in garden.(修飾可數(shù)n 復(fù)數(shù))
