在中國早期甚至現代，相親一直都是一種非常盛行的聯姻方式。盡管如今的人們再怎么不愿意，結果還是會有不少人挨不住父母的催促，不得不到處去相親。相親分幾種類型呢?英文又該怎么說呢?
比較常見的一種說法是blind date。我們來看這句話：
A blind date is a date where the people involved have not met each other previously. The match could have been arranged by mutual friends, relatives or by a dating system.
因為“相親”是“從未晤面的男女經第三者安排所作的約會”，這么看來英語(論壇)中的這個“blind”用得真是相當地傳神呢。可不能看到這個說法就望文生義地以為是“盲目約會”或“瞎約會”哦。
除此之外，現在網絡非常發達，很多相親的人在約會之前就已經在網上看到過對方的照片，甚至用聊天軟件聊天過了。
這樣的“相親”叫做nearsighted date，也就是“近視相親”。我們來看這句話：
As opposed to a blind date, where you have no idea what the other person looks like, a nearsighted date is one where you’ve seen a photo or chatted via web before meeting in person.
所以說“近視相親”是相對于“盲約”而言的，后者在見面前根本不知道對方長什么樣，而前者則事先看過照片或者在網上視頻聊過天。
