          日常閑聊英語對話1

A: How do you feel about wearing brand name logos or slogans on your clothing?

B: I never really thought about it before, I don’t think it bothers me.

A: Do you think advertising has an influence on the choices you make when you shopping?

B: I guess so. I usually buy name brand clothing, shoes, and electronic goods. How about you?

A: I actually try to avoid name brand items. I can’t stand it when big companies advertize their produces all over the place.

B: I know that advertises are experts persuading people to spend their money. But I thing brand name items are usually higher quality than ordinary brands.

A: I think it is sensible to buy products that are higher quality than others when you want to buy something that are going to last long time. But I don’t think it always makes sense.

B: Do you have brand preference for anything?

A: I do for shower items, like shower gel and shampoo, but I don’t go for hairing items.

B: What do you think about the “Impossible is nothing” billboard on the high street?

A: It’s just a slogan for a famous company. There is nothing really special about it.

B: I think it’s a brilliant advert. It really grabs my attention.

          A: To each their own.

          日常閑聊英語對話2

A: What do you think about the public service advertisement for quitting smoking?

B: Well, I think it’s great that it trying to get people quit smoking. But I don’t really care for the advertisement.

          A: Why not?

B: The fish hook they use is quite disturbing.

A: It’s a pun. They use the fish hook to make you think about how you can get hooked on smoking.

B: I know. But I think it’s not really appropriate for young children.

A: I think they’re trying to scare the young people so that they don’t ever start smoking.

B: All advertisements like to catch people young, because they know the meaning of loyalty.

A: Perhaps you’re right though. Maybe the advertisements would be more effective with the adults than the young.

B: I have nothing against them putting advertisements in magazines and newspapers that read by adults. But I don’t think they should have the ad on billboards which children can see them.

A: So good point. I think I was so delighted to see that billboards was been used to promote health. But I didn’t think about how children might understand the ad.

B: You have to give them credit though. It’s about time people started becoming more aware of the danger of smoking.

          日常閑聊英語對話3

Nicole: Have you read the newspaper today? Bryce: No, but I quickly read through the headlines on the Internet. N: Did you see any headlines about the UK pullout of Iraq?

B: Yes, but I didn't have time to read the article about it. What's going on with that?

N: Well, they've finally agreed to start pulling their troops out of Iraq. According to a war correspondent there, America isn't very happy about that.

B: That only makes sense. Did it say anything about how long America plans to stay there?

N: Well, the democrats and the republicans haven't agreed on how to proceed yet. They're in the process of approving the president's war-time budget for this year.

B: Do you think they'll give him all the money he wants?

N: The latest I heard, they were talking about giving him 20 million dollars less than he wanted.

B: Which newspaper do you usually read?

N: I have a daily subscription to the Guardian and on the weekends, I usually buy one of the tabloid magazines from the news agent's for fun.

B: I think tabloids are full of rubbish, but I love the Obsetver's Sunday paper. It's quite a read.

N: The best thing about the Obsetver's Sunday paper is that they often give you free magazines, posters, or DVDs.

B: Really? Maybe I should buy that more often!

          日常閑聊英語對話4

B: Did you see the really interesting article about Martin Scorsese's latest film today?

N: Yes, it's called The Departed and it was nominated for an Oscar, wasn't it?

B: Yes. Have you seen it yet?

N: I saw it a few weeks ago. Matt Damon is fantastic in it.

B: Matt Damon was the focus of the gossip column in the entertainment section, too.

N: I feel sorry for those pop stars. Reporters seem to follow them everywhere.

B: They don't get much privacy, do they? Did you read about the missing girl in Germany?

N: Yes, her story was absolutely amazing! Can you imagine living ten years of your life locked up in the basement by a stranger?

B: It sounds like she was a bit crazy. She seems like she's got a good head on her shoulders.

N: I know. You'd think she'd have quite a few mental problems after what she's experienced.

B: I'm sure more news about it will be on all of the front pages.

N: I think they might have a special report about it tonight on the evening news, too.

B: What time will that be on?

N: At 6: 30 pm, just after the local news. Do you want to watch it with me?

B: Sure. It'll be interesting to hear what she has to say about her abductor.

N: I don't know if her lawyer will allow her to say much yet, but it should be interesting, nonetheless.
