還人清白
1.clear (one's) name
被人冤枉可不是什么好滋味，這個時候最盼望的就是沉冤昭雪、真相大白，可以“還一個清白名聲”出來。這個“還人清白”可以用"clear (one's) name"來表示。
這里，“clear”是一個動詞，意思是“to free from a legalcharge or imputation of guilt”。比如：
The verdict cleared the accused man.
裁決宣判被告人無罪。
The company gave him an opportunity to clearhimself.
公司給了他一個辯白的機會。
我們也可以用“acquit”這個詞來表示同樣的意思：to free or clear from a charge or accusation。但兩者之間還是有些細微的區別的：
She not only wanted to be acquitted, she wanted to clear her name entirely.
她不僅要求被判無罪，還要求徹底還她清白。
So, "clear" carries a sense of "purity", of washing away a stain on one's reputation. Clear 有“徹底洗刷掉污點”的意思，acquit 指的是司法行為。
2.sob story
走在大街上，時常會有些衣著破舊的老夫妻過來和你問路，說出來尋人，找不到人了，沒錢吃飯了，讓你給他們點錢吃口飯。實際上，這些人中有很多是騙子，他們故意編了可憐的故事來騙錢。但這還算是輕的。還有些人假裝殘廢、假裝沒錢輟學、或是抱著昏迷的小孩討錢，這些小孩很可能是他們買來的孩子。像這樣的人編得那些可憐的故事就可以用 sob story 表達。
Sob是哭泣的意思，story就是故事。Sob story的意思就是“某人編造一個令人傷心的故事來贏得別人的同情，甚至于讓別人給錢來幫助他”。下面是一位女士在描述她怎么聽了一個sob story以后受騙的：
Usually I don't give money to beggars. But this nice young man told me a sob story aboutneeding money for a bus ticket to see his dying mother, so I gave him two dollars.
一般我是不給乞丐錢的。但是，這個看上去挺不錯的年輕人告訴我他需要錢坐公共汽車去看他那快要死的媽媽。他說得這么悲慘，我就給了他兩塊錢。
世界上好心人是不少的，下面這個例子又是一個人上了sob story的當：
On my way to work this man stopped me and said that he hadn't eaten in three days so I gavehim a dollar. On my way home I saw him get into a new car and drive off and now I know hehad given me a sob story.
在我去上班的路上那個人擋住了我，對我說，他已經三天沒有吃東西了。所以我給了他一塊錢。可是，我在回家的路上看見他跨進了一輛新汽車開走了。我這才知道他說的全是假的。
如何看手相

Step 1: Read the dominant hand – the one a personuses to write with; it reveals what’s going on now. The passive hand represents a person’sinherited characteristics。
第一步：看占優勢的手——也就是寫字的那只手;它會顯露現在發生的事。另一只手則代表一個人遺傳下來的性格特點。
Markedly different lines on each hand indicate a person who has worked hard to change theirbasic nature。
兩個手的掌紋明顯不同象征著這個人工作刻苦，想改變自己的本性。
Step 2: Know how to view the lines. Read horizontal lines from the thumb side across, andvertical lines from the wrist up。
第二步：知道如何看掌紋。水平線是從大拇指一邊橫跨過來的線，而垂直線是從手腕上去的線。
Step 3: Start with the top horizontal line, or the heart line. A line that’s close to the fingersindicates a passionate, sometimes jealous, person. If the line goes straight across, the personkeeps a tight rein on their emotions. If it curves up toward the index finger, the person is moreoutwardly affectionate。

Step 4: Look at the next horizontal line, which is the head line. A strong, straight line thatgoes all the way across the hand indicates a logical, no-nonsense thinker. A zigzag linerepresents a mind that tends to wander. If the line curves downward toward the wrist, theperson is creative and trusting。
第四步：看下面一條水平線，也就是智慧線。一條又粗又直的智慧線橫跨手掌表示這個人是個條理分明，很直接的思想家。如果這條線呈Z形，則表示這個人容易思想游離。如果這條線彎曲向手腕，則這個人很有創造力，而且輕信別人。
Step 5: Examine the third major line, which usually slopes from horizontal to vertical, the lifeline. A strong, deep line suggests a person who is enthusiastic about life and strives to reachtheir full potential. A shallow or faint line indicates someone with less ambition。
第五步：看看第三條主線，一般是從水平線傾斜到垂直線，也就是生命線。一條又粗又深的生命線暗示著這個人對生活充滿熱情，努力發揮他的潛力。一條淺的模糊的生命線則表示這個人沒有野心。
Contrary to popular belief, the life line has nothing to do with how long a person will live。
與大眾的認知相反，生命線和一個人能活多久沒有什么關系。
Step 6: Check out the fate line, the vertical line in the center of the palm. A strong, straightline indicates a person with a focused career; a faint line suggests someone less happy withtheir job. Forks and branches represent many starts and stops in a person’s career path。
第六步：看看命運線，也就是在手掌中間垂直的線。一條又粗又直的命運線表示這個人專注于他的職業;而一條模糊的命運線則暗示這個人對現在的工作不滿意。命運線上有許多叉子和分支則表示這個人在職業道路上的多次開始和結束。
Step 7: Don’t like what you’re seeing? Remember that your fate is not on your hands but inyour hands. The existing lines simply represent what has come before。
第七步：你對你所看到的掌紋不滿意?記住你的命運不是“顯示在你的手上”的而是“掌握在你手中”的。那些掌紋只是簡單地代表了你的過去。
